Billion Dollar Brats
"...A wise and
frugal
government...."

(TH: Jefferson, First
Inaugural Address,

Motto: "Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God"
Making my way down aisle six at our local Wal-Mart happened by chance to cross my
path with a spoiled brat and an overly controlled mother.  Pamper boy wanted a big bag
of Nabisco's famous
Nutter Butters and he would pull every trick in the book to get his
expected parental handout.  Although much smaller in size than mother, brat boy
nevertheless wielded so much influence that he could easily cover up the shopping
basket with just about anything he wanted.  When told that Nutter Butters were not on the
list of items to be purchased, brat boy began with a sniffle, followed by stomping, and
then finally crying, pushing, pulling, and most generally drawing lots of attention to
himself.  Looking for a quick fix to the situation and wanting to avoid further catastrophe,
mother quickly agreed with the young executive and gave him his way.  Something tells
me that the same scenario probably occurred on aisles eight, nine, and ten as well.

We have the same thing with our current economic crisis.  Several players are involved.
These include the financial institutions, automobile makers, market movers, and others of
like stripe.  These are the billion dollar brats with jumbo sized Pampers.  Yes, they are the
kind with quick release tabs for easy changing since the Big Three seem to dirty 'em up
quite often!   Then there are the incompetent parents named the House, the Senate,
President Bush, and President-Elect Obama.  Like spoiled children, the Big three insist
they will go broke if we don't give them their way and dish out the dough.  When the
Senate refuses to hand over the money, another one of the brat boys hands us a pair of
soiled Pampers full of sell-offs and plunging markets.  The Dow drops not because there
is any real loss of value, but because the thumb suckers over on Wall Street are throwing
a fit because they don't get their way.  Then perhaps the biggest incompetents of them
all are the Executive himself, King Bush, and the soon to be anointed Most Holy One,
Barrack Obama who, like a child running from one parent to another, promises they will
give their little irresponsible boys plenty of Nutter Butters even if mommy won't comply.
What a bunch of losers from all corners.

I learned a thing or two as a parent and one of the dearest lessons of them all was that to
give a kid what he wants simply because he cries about it is the worst thing that can be
done.  A parent looking for a quick fix only postpones the problem and never really fixes
anything.  The problem of selfishness, irresponsibility, and an out of control mind never
gets fixed.  Should we think anything different from a bunch of loser boys in the American
automobile industry?

Therefore, I say we should let the car companies fail.  Let the foreign companies win.  Let
the economic crisis deepen if that's what is to happen.  I believe in the long run we'll be a
better, more mature nation instead of a bunch of billion dollar brats.  So go ahead GM,
Ford, and Chrysler:  Stand in the corner, strap on the dunce hat, suck your greasy
thumb, and cry if you choose.  We're tired of fixing your problems and won't do it
anymore.
